Dropshipping on EBay–Tip to Save Time and Money
This is a bit eBay secret. Consider not selling popular electronic items. Everyone wants to sell electronics, even me. I love electronic gadgets and really like selling the ones I personally think are exceptionally cool.
There are statistics showing that 75% of new eBay seller try to sell items such as digital cameras and laptops. About 90% of those sellers end up quitting in their first year because they lost money, too much money to continue selling. In effect, they were destroyed by the eBay charges for end of sale price, listing fees, and PayPal fees.
A typical newcomer to eBay will find a product from a dropshipper who provides the item for $30 or $50 lower than the average eBay selling price. The first impression is that you can make money. Well, after the listing fees, after the final value fee, and after PayPal fees, you may find that you have spent more than your profit margin.
If you are new to eBay, stay away from high dollar items and don’t just jump in to selling electronics. The profit margin is very small and the competition intense.
You may want to consider a good, online wholesale directory such as Salehoo, the directory of which I’m a member, to help with research.
