Is Doba For You? One Person’s Story

Here is another true question and answer from the Internet. This is a real question and real answer from other people like you, who want to know:

I was thinking using it for eBay but i’m not completely sure how it works?

I’ve been to http://www.doba.com you can have a free trial..i’m just wondering AFTER that do you have to pay for the item or is it just a monthly fee for access to the site?

Anyone that could give ANY information on dropshipping???

We will have a look at an excellent answer, but you may notice that the person asking the question doesn’t appear to have bothered looking very closely at the Doba site. We have written elsewhere about Doba, but here is someone else’s opinion about dropshipping in general and Doba in particular:

yes, dropshipping is the way to go..trust me. i started off using items on hand and it’s a hassle storing everything unless you have a big office space or somewhere to store it. then you still have to be responsible for it. i don’t recommend doba personally. they are expensive and most of what they sell is really expensive. i checked in to them myself and others i’ve spoken with have complained because their fees always increase.

here is how dropshipping works. you simply list the items you like to sell. most dropshippers offer their own pics and texts you can use. when a buyer makes a purchase you contact the dropship company and buy the item from them to send to your seller. most dropshippers allow you to set your own price. i would recommend not dropping below 100% profit to cover your business costs. It is important to be aware of wholesale dropship scams.

Say i went to your site and you’re selling shoes and you have them listed for 90 dollars. you have them shipped directly to me from the company after you pay them the 45 dollars. along with buying the merchandise dropshippers generally charge their monthly membership PLUS a dropship fee. doba last i checked was 40 month and i don’t remember about their dropshipping fee. most charge in the 14 dollar range.

the best way to find a dropshipper is to google what you are interested in selling like ‘nike shoes dropshippers’ for example. also thomas.net and alibaba.com are also great choices to find. check the dropshippers ratings. also, a reputable company does not charge you extra membership/joining fees. there are two types of dropshippers. I would suggest blind which allows you to ship under your company name. if i think of anything else i’ll be back. gotta run for now.

I don’t know why this person mentioned thomas.net. Thomas.net is nothing but a parked domain with “sponsored” listings, one of which, I noticed, was for Doba. Alibaba is somewhat controversial. Some people love it, others hate it. However, Alibaba can be a valuable resource, but you must, must, must do you work to verify that the company listed is legitimate and reliable. Overall, I think this person is spot on.

As you may or may not know, we suggest the Salehoo online directory as a source of reliable product distributor sources as well as a source of ratings for all companies listed on the site.
