Scam or No Scam–The Salehoo Controversy

Filed under Salehoo Scam, Sourcing Tips

This is hard for me to believe, but judging from the traffic finding this site, there is a bit of a controversy as to whether or not Salehoo is a scam. Salehoo is a resource, not a get rich quick scheme. Those who sign up expecting a quick means to click their way to wealth will be sorely disappointed.

The Salehoo wholesale directory is really more of a community brought together around Salehoo’s wholesale forum. The forum community is made up of veteran online and offline retailers, relative newcomers to e-tailing or ecommerce, part time work-at-home moms, students, interested amateurs, and merchants themselves who are invited to offer special prices to the membership. The forum allows you access to sources that you might never otherwise hear about through forum archive research and by networking with the other members. Networking, of course, is done simply by posting to the forum. Jimmy Huber, Salehoo’s front man, is experienced in the wholesale trade and is a valuable source of information himself.

In addition to the forum, there is the directory of sources itself comprised of lists of wholesalers, non wholesale low-cost sources, liquidators, and closeout specialists. Salehoo itself has started brokering liquidation and closeout stock in order to offer the membership better deals on a better quality of goods.

So, is Salehoo a scam? Well, I’ve been a member now for a couple of years, and I can honestly say that in my opinion it is not a scam. I feel that it lives up to its promise to make available thousands of products from over 600 suppliers. True, I am biased, but I am only biased because just like all the other members I antied up the membership fee and found it to be just what it said and just what I was looking for. The yearly fee of $67 is a modest investment if you are researching the means to source your home business or your ecommerce venture.
