It is actually incredibly easy to find drop ship companies, wholesale distributors, and other product sources for home business and eBay products suppliers.
However, if you are seeking a list of true wholesalers who also offer dropship services, be prepared to put in some legwork. Finding wholesalers is easy enough and even finding drop ship companies is not much of a challange. However, locating a premade list of vast numbers of true wholesalers who can reliably accomodate your dropshipping needs may be a different matter.
One of the main reasons for this is that dropshipping is often a service that you negotiate or request from a wholesaler, not something that is an advertised feature, and certainly not something that would ever be advertised to the general public. Keep in mind that real wholesalers focus their promotion on professional retailers and are not concerned about promotion to the general public. Although the amount of money spent over the Internet may run well into the billion dollar zone, the amount of money made in Internet retail ecommerce is still relatively small compared to brick and morter retail.
We have a rather strange circumstance of thousands of people spurred on by Internet marketing hype scurrying to find information on wholesalers and dropshippers, and the true wholesale businesses could care less. Why? Because you–we–are not part of their customer base. Although DBL and WYNIT, two of the major wholesale distributors for consumer electronics, offer dropship services, their real clients are companies such as Walmart, K-Mart, Circuit City and so forth and other smaller, professional retailers.
The point I’m trying to get across is that true wholesale distributors appear to be hard to find because many of the people looking for them–the same people seeking lists of dropship wholesalers–are not professional retailers and don’t know how or where to look for them. And as I hinted at above, real wholesale companies are generally not looking for and could care less about dropship list hunters because they are not customers. Dropship list hunters are more generally the customers of drop ship aggregators.
When searcing for drop ship companies on the Internet, you are more likely to find drop ship aggregators. Drop ship aggregators are large firms who are not wholesalers but retailers who broker wholesale goods to people trying to break into eBay selling and ecommerce. Some of the big aggregators may actually warehouse the inventory and ship it out as you order it.
As I said above, it is actually incredibly easy to find product suppliers. However, it is difficult to write posts answering questions about dropshipping because there are so many different product lines. My focus is directed toward helping you find your own sources rather than try to list out the thousands of suppliers available. However, I have listed below some dropshipping sites that may be of help. Keep in mind that drop shipping may not be the best business model for eBay. Remember to research your products at least on eBay and through the eBay forums before setting up your auctions. By the way, we are not recommending the sites below. One other thing to consider is simply paying for one of the wholesale supplier memberships. Both Aid and Trade and Salehoo are well regarded. Both require relatively low, one-time life time membership fees and can supply you with a ready made directory of thousands of product suppliers. However, such memberships are never complete and definitive because the number of product suppliers is huge and such directories often reflect the bias of both members and owners.
