What You Must Know About Dropship Wholesale DVDs

Finding the wholesale DVD list . . . .

We get so many queries about wholesale dvds and what the best wholesale dvd directories and lists are that the only advice to give is to check out the most comprehensive of these, the Jillian Entertainment guide. In my opinion, this is simply the best. And yes, you do have to pay for it. When I bought it, it was only $27. The sales page is cheesy, but don’t let that put you off.

The thing is, if you are pretty new to this and want to sell DVDs, you may have the idea that wholesale dvds are really inexpensive, starting at one or two bucks. For legitimate dvds, that is simply not true. Legitimate wholesale dvds are far more expensive than you might think, especially for new releases of box office hits. Generally speaking, in my experience, when you are buying single, wholesale DVDs, you can expect around 32% below the manufacturer recommended retail price. But that will always depend on the company. In some cases you may get more or less off the MSRP. If you plan on dropshipping DVDs, the price generally goes up. If you think that 32% below MSRP is way too expensive for wholesale, think again. We have accounts with the three largest wholesale distributors of DVDs, books, and video games in the United States, and its amazing how uniform their prices are. Wholesale DVD prices can always be negotiated with your sales rep. Generally speaking, the greater the bulk, the lower the price.

An account representative with one of these companies–I’ll call it company X–recently contacted me to let me know that they were implementing a new ecommerce option for their clients (me, in this case). What they do, for a cost, is design a module that you insert into your website. The module serves as an interface with the Company X’s inventory and shopping cart. The effect is that your customers show up at your site and browse the DVD and video game inventory, make purchases and check out without ever knowing that they are using Company X’s data base and shopping cart. Company X handles the sales, sales tax when applicable, and shipping and handling. They do charge per item dropship fee. It is actually pretty nice, but my point in mentioning it is that their wholesale price to you does not leave much room for mark up, and it is very difficult to be competitive with with retail outlets such as Walmart and Best Buy. It is practically impossible to compete with eBay and impossible to compete with Amazon in some cases. I also know of a few online discount sites that retail DVDs at very close to wholesale prices and give free shipping. Profit margins are slim, and you really have to have your act together to figure out how to make money in this particular market.

Another Option That I Know Of

The Salehoo Directory also lists a number of companies who dropship DVDs. However, if you want the names of the largest genuine wholesale distributors of DVDs and video games, as well as the other key sources for accessing large numbers of DVDs, the Jillian Entertainment Guide has that information. If you think you want to try and do a deal with the studios, the Jillian guide can help you there, too. As far as Salehoo for DVDs goes, I think a lot of people use companies listed to dropship DVDs in specific niches where the catalog is relatively small. I know that Salehoo get’s some flak regarding whether or not it is a scam. Personally, I think that’s nonsense, but you’ll have to draw your own conclusions.
